While the GEM Standard (SEMI E30) is tailored to the needs of semiconductor industry, these rules can also be widely applied in photovoltaic industry. However, not all specifications are suitable or relevant in this field. Therefore, the PV2 standard was created. It was adopted to the PV industries requirements, enabling a fast and easy equipment integration to fab hosts as well as extending equipment capabilities.
Just as SEMI E30, PV2 specifies and describes the common equipment capabilities that are expected on the hosts side (e.g. Data Item Formats, basic Variables and Events, Process Program Management (PPM))
