Cooperations & Partners

Cooperation for the future of automation

In cooperation with other companies and longstanding close partners, we continue to develop our solutions and products for you, train our staff and build up our expertise for the future. Our participation in research projects also strengthens our innovativeness and competitiveness and facilitates the development of solutions for current and future applications. For this reason AIS collaborates with Saxon research institutes and universities on projects or diploma theses.

Brooks Solution Provider

Brooks Solution Provider (BSP) partners are independent providers of products and/or services that build upon Brooks products. BSPs have earned this recommendation through a history of deploying solutions optimized for Brooks platforms and products that deliver measurable business value to customers.

Oracle Partner Network - Build Expertise in Powered by Oracle Cloud

Customer success is a central guiding principle of Oracle. As a partner, Kontron AIS uses the Oracle infrastructure as the basis for a subset of its software products, relying on a globally active and reliable technology provider.

Deutsche Bahn AG - listed software provider

Deutsche Bahn places very high demands on its suppliers in terms of expertise, performance, reliability and compliance. For this reason, every partner undergoes an extensive qualification process. Kontron AIS meets these high requirements and has been a qualified supplier for Deutsche Bahn in the field of software for many years and has successfully implemented various projects in the field of brake and conveyor system control.

OPC Foundation Membership

OPC is the world's most widely used interoperability standard for secure, reliable and cross-platform information exchange with over 750 OPC Foundation members and thousands of OPC-compliant products. As an OPC Corporate Partner, Kontron AIS develops solutions based on OPC standards.

Current research projects

Research projects strengthen innovation and competitiveness. They make an important contribution to the development or further development of new, promising technologies and innovations. These are also important reasons for us to get involved and help shape the industrial automation of the future.

OptiLearn – Optimized metrology for c-Si solar processes through combined and networked measurement approaches and machine learning based data concepts

Title: Integration and learning-based control concepts

Overall objective: Through the "OptiLearn" project, measurement technology manufacturers, software providers and research institutions intend to combine their respective competencies to jointly explore new approaches to monitoring, analysis and prediction techniques for solar cell production. The planned work, with a strong focus on new measurement methods and applications as well as data processing, is intended to enable the industry partners to continue to play their role as suppliers in the cost-driven photovoltaic market and to remain competitive in the future.

By providing technologies that increase the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of cell lines, the project partners are making an important contribution to identifying cost reduction potential. The developments are initially based on current cell and module technologies. However, it is expected that the need for appropriate production monitoring using inline metrology will increase significantly for future, more complex technologies, such as heterojunction cells, cells with passivated contacts, or tandem perovskite cells.

Collaborative project KISS-PV: Development of concepts for data acquisition in production and for the operation of continuously learning AI models

Title: Flexible data management and integration of continuously learning AI models in production control systems

Overall objective: The project "KISS-PV" focuses on the development of a digital twin of solar cells for the characterization and optimization of the cells in solar cell production.

For this purpose, combined methods of artificial intelligence and solar cell simulation are developed. This novel concept of theory-based data analysis provides access to hidden physical parameters purely based solely on inline measurement data and thus a physical loss analysis of each individual cell.

This interpretable data representation of complex measurement data enables a new quality of cell monitoring and production processes, as well as a quantitative potential analysis of changes in cell design and production technologies. This development is a central component for the next stage of self-optimizing production.

H2Giga – Technology development for gigawatt-scale water electrolysis

Title: Quality assurance in outsourced distributed volume production of high-temperature electrolyzers

Overall objective: Sunfire GmbH uses contract manufacturing to outsource large parts of its electrolyzer production. At the same time, the production and process data of the manufacturing steps are to be collected from the various contractors and made available centrally for quality control and planning.

In this subproject, a suitable IT environment is to be created for the collection, storage, and evaluation of all relevant data along the entire process chain in order to achieve optimum traceability of the individual electrolyzers and their respective components.
